YOU’RE INVITED TO A REMARKABLE CELEBRATION OF BELONGING AND DIVERSITY!
The Silo and Health Care Advocates International (HCAI) are proud to announce the debut of a brand-new collaborative event, Better Together, hosted on September 24th. The mission is to support inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of our community and the strength we have when we come together. Acceptance is a major focus of The Silo and HCAI; we see the importance and necessity of a day that celebrates just this!
We are doing a non-perishable food drive to support Camella’s Cupboard and will have numerous activities rooted in promoting our ethos of “blind kindness” and equality. From live performances to arts and crafts, Better Together will be an event for all ages. Drag Queen Mia Ez will MC for the day’s events, which includes food trucks, live music from Sophia Lily, DJ Bongo Joe and Vincent Rodriguez, a traveling art exhibit “Historic Timeline of Connecticut’s LGBTQ Community” in collaboration with the Connecticut Historic Society, face painting, bouncy house for the kids, a drumming circle and a bonfire with Mark Zarrillo at the pond. We hope that Better Together can become an annual celebration of our community’s diversity, and we plan to start it off with a bang!
The Silo has always been a place of culture and progress. In partnering with HCAI, we will be able to continue this sentiment in events like these. For years, the Stratford-based organization has committed to fighting against stigma and discrimination. Their support has been crucial to not only the creation of this event, but our own organization’s success. Diversity and inclusion are the building blocks for our community. We hope to create a safe place for LGBTQAI+ and HIV+ individuals to connect, heal, and celebrate. In addition to entertainment and landmark celebrations, attendees will foster relationships with those that share a passion for togetherness and acceptance.
We hope to see you all for a day of fun, learning, and celebration. Together, we can promote the spirit of inclusivity as it pertains to our local and larger communities. The day will mark a step towards progress and acceptance. It would be an honor for you to join us on this journey to also support the achievement of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
See you soon,
The Silo + HCAI
