Ruane Emerging Artists Program

Hunt Hill Farm’s new program called Ruane Emerging Artists Program (REAP) named after childhood friend, local resident and Boston music promoter Billy Ruane, recognizes exceptional emerging artists highlighting them to a growing audience during the year end with Hunt Hill Farm’s Annual Award dinner in July. REAP include opportunities for increased exposure through features at open mic night, performances, exhibition and special events.

Hunt Hill Farm believes that those creating work offering new/exciting/thoughtful perspectives in music as well as other mediums, expanding upon genres of creative production and inquiry are qualified as candidates for its REAP awards. An Emerging Artist may be at the early stages of receiving recognition for his/her work but is currently underrepresented through performances, exhibitions or publications that might otherwise bring the work to wide attention. The intent of the award is to recognize, cultivate and amplify vital, new voices of creative endeavors. The award enables these artists to reach broader audiences and impact discourse in the field.

Because the concept of emergence in the arts does not invariably correlate with a specific age, or other quantifiable terms, Hunt Hill Farm requires applicants to briefly describe why they perceive themselves to be at an emergent point in their careers and how they anticipate the award will impact the trajectory of their endeavors. The Hunt Hill Farm review committee, at their discretion, may eliminate candidates that are considered to be beyond “emerging.”

A primary purpose of the REAP program is to provide artists with access to opportunities that can affect positive change in their lives and, in turn, the field at large .
